Contractor Accreditations

‚ÄčI am writing a reference for James King Plant in relation to proposed works in Cambridgeshire. My name is David Howland and I currently work for MGWSP as Construction Manager, undertaking works on behalf of Northamptonshire County Council on a term contract. Prior to this I worked for Atkins on the previous commission in Northamptonshire. I was transferred under TUPE to Atkins in 2001 from Northants County Council where I worked in the Construction Team of the Highways and Transportation department as an engineer. I have worked with James King Plant in a professional capacity on various construction projects since 1995. These projects have included earthworks programmes with Kings sub-contracting to Birse, Nuttall and McAlpine either directly or through Buckingham Plant. On all of these schemes, which included major infrastructure works, bypass works and carriageway reconstruction projects I found James King Plant to be a competent and experienced contractor. It was also of note that relationships on site were always satisfactory and non-confrontational and the standard of work generally good. During the Atkins contract James King Plant also undertook various schemes as a supply chain partner including drainage and footway reconstruction schemes. Again, these were completed to a satisfactory standard, efficiently and to budget. I have no hesitation in providing a recommendation for James King Plant to be included on any list of tenderers for works within their sphere of specialism and will gladly discuss any issues with relevant parties. Yours faithfully, David Howland IEng (FIHIE).

 A47 Earl Shilton Bypass- Leicestershire
Oakham Bypass Rutland I have now had the opportunity to work with James King on the two above projects. Currently we are constructing the A47 Earl Shilton Bypass which involves circa 200'000 cubic metres of cut and fill over 5 km's. Presently due to the continued efforts of the site team and the excellent working relationship we have with James king the project is currently running ahead of program and on course for early completion. Oakham was an extremely successful project for Rutland County Council. The project involved circa 150'000 of cut and fill to facilitate construction of an embankment and overbridge over a railway. The project again due to close relationship we had with James King, being able to sit down and and resolve any problems that arose onsite in a timely and amicable manner finished 12 weeks ahead of program and within the expected budget. With this in mind I would like to offer my recommendation as to the employment of James King. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding the above. Yours Faithfully Patrick Cumming sub Agent Carillion PLC
"James King LTD undertook the earthworks operations on our St Neot's infrastructure development . We found them a forward thinking contractor who worked with enthusiasm and endeavour, above the call of duty. I would recommend them to undertake earthworks again and wish them the best of luck in the future. " Lee Waugh Project Manager (Alfred McAlpine)
